METHOD OF PRESENTING THE LAW OF CONTRACTS. Authors differ in their method of treating the subject of contracts. We pre fer to follow the plan adopted by Sir William Anson, in his Principles of the English Law of Contract, and treat, First, of the formation of a valid contract, and its essential elements; Second, the effect or operation of contract; Third, the interpretation of contract, or the rules of construction followed when presented to the court for decision; and, Fourth, the discharge of the contract, or the final solution of the legal tie be tween the contracting parties. A chapter will be de voted to each of these topics. See Anson on Con tracts, p. I.
