PROMISSORY NOTE DEFINED. "A promissory note is an unconditional promise to pay to another's order or to bearer a specified sum of money at a specified time." It will be seen that a promissory note does not differ materially from an inland bill of exchange, with which it was early confounded. It is an order drawn on one's self instead of a third person.
